Best Italian Restaurants in Bangkok 2021

Bangkok has continued to amaze foodies and tourists with its remarkable range of international cuisines as a gastronomic hub in Southeast Asia.

There is one cuisine in particular that has swept the city, with a huge number of eateries offering simple hand food as well as sophisticated fine dining.

Of course, we’re talking about Italian cuisine. This list of the best Italian restaurants in Bangkok includes brilliant chefs and restaurateurs who are doing their nation proud while also making hungry Thai locals happy. This list is in no particular order, but it includes restaurants where you may get a simple plate of pasta as well as those that specialise in fine cuisine.

Pala Pizza Romana

Pizza slices at Pala Pizza Italian restaurant in Bangkok

Best Italian Restaurants in Bangkok 2021.

This modest Italian restaurant is directly at the MRT Subway’s entrance and is at the top of our list for a reason. Pala Pizza, despite its small size, has its own charms. From freshly baked pizza and pasta to a wide variety of cheeses and cold meats, there’s something for everyone.

The aroma of deliciousness wafts in from the massive oven as soon as you walk in. Pala is a must-visit for an authentic Italian experience, with reasonable rates, delicious food, a welcoming atmosphere, and a steady stream of eager guests. We normally order either the Calabrese Pasta with Spicy Nduja Sausage, Tomato Sauce, and Pecorino Cheese or the Calabrese Pasta with Spicy Nduja Sausage, Tomato Sauce, and Pecorino Cheese. Norma pasta with eggplant, tomato sauce, garlic, onion, and ricotta is another option. The steak Straccetti Alla Rucola is always cooked to perfection.

Pizza Massilia

Best Italian Restaurants in Bangkok 2021.

When it comes to pizza, everyone’s an expert, but no one does it quite like the Neapolitans. Pizza Massilia, offers the finest Neapolitan traditions, serving up traditional pizza made with the best imported ingredients from Europe. Tasty and easily digestible pizza, thanks to a dough that has been leavened and matured for over 72 hours. French restaurateur Frederic Meyer (Issaya Siamese Club and Namsaah) and Italian Chef Luca Apino (La Bottega di Luca) collaborated on this project. There are references to both European countries on the menu, as well as a fine selection of indulgent toppings for their dough. The Truffle Mortadella Pizza, a fragrant blend of smoky cured ham and ambrosial truffle, and the deliciously rich Sea Urchin Pizza, brimming with umami, are two of the restaurant’s highlights. But don’t forget about the classics; even the margherita is superb.

A new Italian restaurant in Bangkok, Via Emilia Ristorante opened in February 2021, with an authentic and regional menu of Italian cuisine from Emilia Romagna. Andrea, founder and owner, built a menu highlighting the regional dishes he grew up with. With a focus on authenticity of the Via Emilia Road and Emilia Romagna, the Italian Gastronomic Treasure, the restaurant will likely be a hit despite its youth. You can enjoy a quick pizza or get one of their regional specialties, such as Risotto Salsiccia e Lambrusco – Carnaroli rice cooked with Italian sausage and Lambrusco red wine, topped with crispy onion. With the Lo sformatino al Parmigiano Reggiano dish, you get a comforting aged 24 months Parmigiano Reggiano souffle topped with 30 months-aged Parmesan chips and a touch of Aceto Balsamico.

Best Italian Restaurants in Bangkok 2021.

A corner of Italy in the downtown Ekkamai district is Barolo. A superb restaurant named after the famous Italian red wine. Barolo’s emphasis on Italian comfort food takes place in a restored property that has a beautiful garden, perfect for dates. Il Fienile is a small, adjacent building with a great selection of wine, cheese and cold cuts. Enjoy delicious, authentic home cooking here. We really enjoyed the Lasagne Al Forno, which was wonderfully cheesy and delicious, and the board of cured meats, washed down with a bottle of “Pelagrilla” Brunello.

striploin truffle course at Enotica Italian restaurant

Best Italian Restaurants in Bangkok 2021.

Since 2004, Enoteca has delighted its fans with its impressive wine collection and modern Italian fine dining. Exquisite dishes overflowing with typical Italian flavours, a comfortable rustic dining room, a large wine list, and friendly service have given this restaurant a deserved place on our list. Enoteca was created by Giancarlo, a former real estate developer, and his son Nicola. The initial concept featured a promotion of Italian wines, some 400 labels, as well as the presentation of well-matched simple dishes. It evolved into the gourmet restaurant it is today through time and with the aid of talented cooks. The restaurant has been under the helm of Italian Chef Stefano since 2016 who has a wealth of experience working in fine dining across Europe. Although the restaurant provides a la carte, we recommend that you opt for a tasting menu with wine pairing to get the whole experience.

About Eatery

Best Italian Restaurants in Bangkok 2021.

About Eatery is one of the first natural wine bars in Thailand where customers can expect the kind of genuine hospitality they can only receive in a rustic eatery. The brick-walled space and wooden crates showcase a diverse selection of organic and biodynamic wines, as well as a menu of cold cut meats and classic Italian dishes produced from sustainable sources. They are committed to creating an environment that is harmonious.

The menu features a variety of classic Italian meals made using responsibly sourced products from all throughout Thailand. Homemade pasta, such as black truffle ravioli or pappardelle served alongside Australian wagyu beef, shaved parmesan, and rosemary as part of the farm to table idea. Cheese and cold cut meats can be ordered by the gram, 35, 50, and 100, or by the mixed board, which comes in three sizes. Manchego, pecorino, and wild boar salami are a few of our favourite cheeses to pair with a glass of wine.
