Time for some Italian summer sipping with this refreshing Aperol Spritz recipe! Grab that bottle of Aperol, pop open that Prosecco bottle and lets mix and pretend we are in Venice watching the sun glisten on the Italian riviera.
The Aperol spritz is a super simple yet perfectly refreshing drink for summertime. Of course, choosing quality ingredients is always the best way forward so let us explain what you need in this article to make the perfect cocktail.
This cocktail is a great pre dinner drink or even a daytime session drink due to its low alcohol content. So fill a white wine glass, grab a bag of potato chips and find your spot in the sun. It’s Aperitivo hour!
One of the all-time greatest Italian cocktails, this recipe consists of four ingredients that you can buy from most stores. When you get your ice try and find some good quality ice or even make it home!
Aperol: Without stating the obvious, Aperol needs to be in this cocktail! Aperol is an Italian aperitif. The bright orange hue comes from the gentian and rhubarb ingredients. It has a complex bittersweet taste and is named after a slang term for Aperitivo.
Prosecco: Produced in the northern regions of Italy and over the years has been mass-produced and consumed worldwide due to its low price point compared to Champagne. Consequently, this does mean there are a lot of badly bad bottles out there. Generally, sparkling wine is inexpensive. I recommend opting for a dry style as Prosecco is naturally sweet.
Club Soda: Fizz it up with a bit of added dilution. We usually choose a bottle like Fever-Tree but anything unflavoured will work.
Slice of fresh orange: An orange slice is a garnish that brings the whole drink together. It’s the classic garnish for an Aperol Spritz and makes the cocktail stand out.
No need for a shaker to make this easy cocktail. All you will need is your wine glass with ice, add the Aperol followed by the Prosecco and soda.
Find yourself a nice juicy orange and cut yourself a thick slice and plunge it in. Finally, we recommend using a straw for this drink. Although not plastic! For Example, metal is a great alternative. You can find a good pack in our bar equipment guide.
