Toby's

Tobys Crispy French Toast brunch in Bangkok
Bangkok Brunch Guide 2021.

Toby’s is one of Bangkok most loved brunch spots with its light airy space and Australian style breakfasts. The sun-drenched cafe sits down Sukhumvit 38, a short walk from the Thonglor BTS Sky Train. Toby’s brings the crowds visiting for their cold-pressed juices and coffee selection.

Expect to see Roasted Pumpkin & Scrambled Egg [320฿] complete with sourdough, bacon bits, goats cheese and dill. For those on a health kick, we recommend the nutrient-packed Banners Bowl [320฿]. Kale and avocado salsa are paired alongside beetroot, grilled chicken breast, cranberry and sumac.

Luka

Best Brunch in Bangkok 2021

Sadly Luka Moto is in the process of finding a new home however they still have two other locations. The first is Luka at Siri House alongside other restaurants like Quince. Their second location is in Silom on Thanon Pan road.  Luka is known for it’s all-day brekkie and it certainly gets us excited.

Amongst the healthy options such as granola and an acai bowl, we struggled to choose between three big contenders.  To start, we have the Breakfast Burrito

A sizeable portion features, cheese, 2 organic eggs, Sloane’s sausage, black quinoa, avocado, sour cream and spicy corn salsa to top it all of!

Next up is the Luka Shakshuka. brought in the pan we have a mix of organic eggs, capsicum, chorizo, yogurt, and sourdough. and finally, we have the Gangnam Style Chicken & Waffles served with with pickle kimchi. Need we say more?

Breakfast Story

Best Brunch in Bangkok 2021.

The menu at Breakfast Story reads like a book with an introduction and 14 chapters. Many people come straight for their delicious fluffy pancakes but it’s sometimes nice to follow from chapter one and see all the goodies they offer. Breakfast Story sources all the best ingredients including high-quality maple syrup to drizzle. The custardy stacks are always served with real butter and choices of crispy bacon or smoked salmon and avocado.

To make this menu even better they have loaded sandwiches such as the Grilled Mac and Cheese and you can wash it all down with a sweet treat like a PB & J Smoothie or a boozy Bloody Mary classically made with celery salt, Worcestershire sauce and a variety of pickles.

In house, freshly baked croissants and house-cured salmon are some of the mouth-watering delights ready for your tastebuds. Other hearty comfort dishes include The Scrambled [220฿], eggs on rye sourdough with sour cream. And the pre-mentioned Breakfast Burrito [240฿] with pickled chilis, Sloane’s bacon, egg, roasted tomato and of course cheddar cheese.

During the evening Rocket change up the menu to feature some interesting meals like creamy Tikka Masala [360฿] and Lamb Couscous [580฿] which you don’t often find this side of the world.

Sarnies

Best Brunch in Bangkok 2021.

The weekends are super busy and you can expect a cue, but we say its worth the wait. Much of the food menu is organic with the majority of ingredients being sourced locally. Like the Singapore outlet, almost everything is made on-site including the delicious longan wood-smoked salmon and the mouth-watering house-cured bacon. Of course, with a name like sarnies you can expect plenty of open toast and sandwiches to choose from. A popular dish on the menu is the CB&J (cashew butter, natural local honey, roasted grapes, thyme on sourdough) for 280฿.

Or classic Aussie-style Bacon and Eggs Sarnie served with tomato relish on ciabatta for 320฿. Being a cafe with Australian brunch influence there had to Fry-Up on the menu, complete with smoky-bacon baked beans, roasted tomatoes, sautéed mushrooms, smashed potatoes & sourdough and the usual suspects. And there is an innovative “Pimp my Breakfast” where customers can create their own meal to be vegetarian, low carb, carnivore or whatever else they fancy.

Kaizen
kaizen avocado on toast brunch in Bangkok
Best Brunch in Bangkok 2021.

This uber-cool cafe at the end of trendy Ekkamai was born for a love of good coffee and well-designed brunch options. We love Kaizen and not only does it deserve a mention in our top brunch list but we also included it in top places to have coffee in Bangkok 2021. The food at Kaizen is exceptional with a strong influence from worldwide culinary culture.

The sourdough on toast options are to die for with Fig and Avocado with cream cheese, balsamic, pistachio and pomegranate being one of our favourites. Bacon and Egg Brioche sandwich with Mayo is so tasty you will want two and the Yoghurt Brekkie with Banana Toast is the best guilty pleasure with its drizzled will honey, peanut butter and fresh berries. See our full Kaizen profile here.

Bangkok Trading Post

Best Brunch in Bangkok 2021.

A perfect escape from the hustle and bustle, the boutiquey space has many charms including their marble tables and gorgeous outside seating area. Bangkok Trading Post is known for its outstanding brunch with layered, fluffy Quinoa Pancakes with grilled bananas and whipped orange butter being a staple. Their Eggs Benedict with smoked salmon and sautéed spinach on baguette is a strong option alongside their delicious goat cheese, roasted pimento pepper and boerewors sausage Spanish Omelette.

Bangkok Trading Post is a great place for a business lunch or friendly catch up with some of the light options available. There’s nothing better than tucking into their packed, Tuna Tataki Salad [340฿] with a bottle of Chenin Blanc in the early afternoon. Some other great wine pairing options would be their deli sharing boards. Their Meat Board included chorizo, salami, prosciutto and pork pate. And their Cheese and Vegi Board holds blue cheese, baby gherkins, olives and goats cheese at [480฿] and [450฿] respectively.

Odtomato

Best Brunch in Bangkok 2021.

It’s not just feel-good dinners that make Odtomato stand out though. Their Brunch menu is worth a visit for their Buttermilk Flapjack  with butter and Canadian maple syrup. Or their gut-busting Big Boy Breakfast with 2 eggs, bacon, sausage, baked beans, mushrooms and avocado is a show stopper.

The eggs benny is served on a buckwheat muffin with perfectly cooked eggs. All can be washed down with a hot coffee, a protein shake like the yuzu dream or one of their flavoured kombucha like the Shizuoka Green Tea with honey.

Roast
roast fluffy blueberry and ricotta pancakes brunch in Bangkok
Best Brunch in Bangkok 2021.

Starting with the brunch, Roast has some incredible classic options elevated by small additions. The French Omelette [360฿] is built with ciabatta, bacon and avocado with a zesty lemony, pistachio pesto. And the Steak and Eggs [890฿] at reasonable price uses a hanger cut paired alongside sweet salsa verde, fried egg, parsley and fried potatoes. Their fluffy Pancakes [320฿] are a superb choice with its creamy ricotta, blueberry sauce and earl grey crumble.

One of the projects we are delighted to see is the partnership with the Roots cafe, who give part of the profits of each cup of coffee go directly to coffee farmers in Chiang Mai through their collaborative efforts. Since they started, they have helped and worked with 8 coffee families across 7 different regions and 3 provinces in Thailand.

Not Just Another Cup
not just another cup brunch in Bangkok
Best Brunch in Bangkok 2021.

Starting with the breakfasts, you can expect egg centred dishes with the humble avocado taking a large role.  The star dish is the Quinoa Zucchini Fritters served with poached egg, parmesan cheese, beetroot puree, dill creme fraiche, avocado. But we also love to tuck into the Breakfast French Toast served with bacon, sausage, fresh strawberries, orange and caramelized banana!

We particularly liked the international breakfast section letting you explore the world through culinary wake-ups. The Mexican Breakfast is delicious with its sunny side up eggs, grilled cheese tortilla, creamy guacamole, refried Pinto beans and grilled chicken.

Not Just Another Cup is a strong contender for the top brunch spot in Bangkok, especially for those looking for a perfect Instagram shot. It certainly gets busy at the weekends, which is always a good sign, so be sure to call and book ahead. The pallet tones, furnished wood light space make it a great place to hide and work off your laptop all day, whilst being topped up by decent coffee.

We do love the bright colours of all the food that comes out especially the heart-shaped bowls of the smoothies, we opted for the Healthy Monkey avocado, banana, cacao nibs, cacao powder and almond milk.
