Is there anything quite as delicious as a big bowl of pasta or a stone baked pizza? Most people in Bangkok seek out a good heart-warming Italian restaurant at least once a week, and we have a lot to choose from!
As a gastronomic hub in Southeast Asia, Bangkok continues to amaze foodies and tourists with its remarkable range of international cuisines. In Bangkok, however, more than 420 Italian restaurants serve Italian food, indicating a love of Italy’s food culture.
This list of the best Italian restaurants in Bangkok includes brilliant chefs and restaurateurs who are doing their nation proud while also making hungry Thai locals happy. This list is in no particular order, but it includes restaurants where you may get a simple plate of pasta as well as those that specialise in fine cuisine.
We guarantee there will be some hidden gems that we don’t know about and we will continue to add to our list of the best Italian restaurants in Bangkok for 2022 as we discover them.
In the heart of Sathorn, Cetara brought a taste of the Amalfi coast to its authentic southern Italian seafood restaurant and pizzeria. In keeping with it’s name, Cetara aims to bring together ancient maritime traditions and culinary techniques, including a variety of seafood dishes like Impetta di Cozze mussels and Carnaroli rice with blue lobster.
The Insalata di Polpo e Calamari, Origano Calabrese at Cetara consists of calamari, octopus, and Calabrian oregano. It’s an elegant, tasty salad bursting with flavour. You may also find more rare specialties on their daily specials, and take in the ambience of the charming and classic Mediterranean interiors while dining.

Sicilian born Head chef, Nino Scognamillo, showcases traditional, rustic, produce-driven Mediterranean dishes inspired by his hometown. Italian for “Our House”, La Casa Nostra has firmly established itself as a must-visit dining destination in the sleepy residential Sathorn area. With a warm environment, forged iron flatware, rustic wooden tables, and a sprawling outdoor dining area, the restaurant exudes a relaxed and inviting atmosphere.
It’s an unpretentious menu crafted with ancestral and modern techniques, with a strong emphasis on ingredients of the highest quality. A carefully sourced selection of cold cuts and cheese are on offer, great for lunch time lounging. All pasta is handmade with choices like Spaghetti All’aragosta featuring Maine lobster spaghetti and Sicilian cherry tomatoes. Or Ravioloni Al Funghi Giant Ravioli stuffed with ricotta cheese & mushrooms in a mixed mushroom sauce.
The wine cellar is one of the most beautiful features of the restaurant and houses a fantastic collection of old and new world labels at essentially cost price, something unheard of in most restaurants. This is made possible by co-owners The Wine Merchant Co. who also take particular care in serving all wines in stunning Zalto glassware and many bottles by Coravin.

This modest Italian restaurant is directly at the MRT Subway’s entrance and has become a cult favourite amongst hungry diners. From freshly baked pizza and pasta to a wide variety of cheeses and cold meats, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
The aroma of deliciousness wafts in from the massive oven as soon as you walk in. Pala is a must-visit for those on the move with reasonable rates, delicious food, a welcoming atmosphere, and a steady stream of eager guests. We normally order either the Calabrese Pasta with Spicy Nduja Sausage, Tomato Sauce, and Pecorino Cheese or the Norma Pasta with eggplant, tomato sauce, garlic, onion, and ricotta is another option. The steak Straccetti Alla Rucola is a great choice for meat lovers and will go well with a bottle of Chianti red.

When it comes to pizza, no one does it quite like Pizza Massilia. The pizzeria stays true to the finest Neapolitan traditions, serving up stone baked pizza made with the best imported ingredients from Europe. Well known Italian Chef Luca Apino brings a fine selection of indulgent toppings for their dough in multiple locations across the city.
This year, Pizza Massilia did the impossible and made their pizza taste even better with a new dough recipe. There are a ton of classic pizza toppings to try such as Mortadella and Burrata or their signature Black Truffle Calzone with smoked scamorza cheese, black pepper and a poached egg is a must try. If dining in, there are many other options to choose from such as Burrata Caprese Salad, Octopus Carpaccio and a mouthwatering Wood Oven Baked Australian Wagyu Marble 5 Tomahawk.

Bangkok’s Chidlom neighbourhood is home to Salvia, an Italian restaurant that feels like a neighbourhood joint. Chef Roberto Parentela prepares artisanal cold cuts, wood-fired Neapolitan pizzas, handmade pastas, grapevine grilled meats and a selection of sumptuous desserts.
Salvia promotes the Tuscan approach of traditional shareable dishes with a range of hearty Italian meals. Natural wooden screens and white tablecloths add a touch of refinement to the relaxed setting, with privacy given to those who require it. Salvia offers a great beverage program with smoked Negronis made at the table and a range of natural Italian wines.
Our favourite dishes were classics like the Buratta paired with pine nuts and organic tomatoes and the Tagliata di Angus steak served table side with rocket leaves and grana Padano shaving.

Appia is a classic Roman trattoria from Chef owner Paolo Vitaletti. Growing up as a butcher’s son, he learned the art of cooking pasta, stews, and roast meats that his mother and father prepared. In addition to its extensive pasta selection, Appia offers a wide variety of meats and cheeses that are sure to satisfy even the most discerning diners.
Their rotisserie delivers crowd pleasers such as Porchetta, Like in Rome – roast pork, fennel pollen, and apple compote. Pia’s Fettuccine, a rich meaty ragu with parmesan and his Mother’s Tiramisu are all must-tries. We would have to kick ourselves if we didn’t mention their Famous Chicken Liver Crostini. This legitimately is the best chicken liver pate in the city served with grilled Conky’s sourdough and maldon salt.

Head Chef Marco Avesani brings a homely, yet refined, Italian dining experience situated in the heart of Sukhumvit Soi 49. Celebrating La Bottega’s fourteenth anniversary, he has designed a new menu inspired by his passion for hospitality and previous tenure at some of Bangkok’s most prestigious fine dining restaurants.
The A La Carte menu features upscale authentic Italian traditional cuisine from all the great culinary regions of Italy, with touches of Chef Marco’s innovations. Linguine with Amalfi lemon, fresh parsley, and toasted breadcrumbs is a zesty, delightful plate of carbs. Whilst each Tortelli filled with Barolo wine, braised beef and dipped in Malga butter is a rich bite of happiness. A stunning main course option is the pan-seared red snapper, beluga lentils and spinach.
For a sweet treat we definitely recommend the house made gelato with hazelnut being our favourite flavour.
