Taking inspiration from the golden age of train travel, Intercontinental Khao Yai Resort is set to open on 22nd August 2022. This highly anticipated opening will offer guests a chance to explore the natural beauty of the region, take in the wildlife, and discover the land’s historic stories.
The natural sanctuary was designed by award-winning architect and interior designer Bill Bensley, who recognized the area’s significance in connecting North-East Thailand to the rest of the country via rail transit.
The 64-key sanctuary includes 45 rooms, in addition to 19 suites and villas, housed within repurposed heritage train cars.

Part of the charm of visiting Khao Yai is of course the UNESCO listed national park. The new resort sits on the edge, blessed with views of seven lakes and surrounded by over 50,000 trees.
InterContinental Khao Yai Resort will provide a diverse range of distinctive, original culinary experiences with a focus on experience-based dining, including Somying Kitchen, a farm-to-table concept, and Tea House, which will introduce a formal, traditional high tea. Poirot Brasserie is a classy French-inspired concept, and Papillon Bar both housed in an upcycled railway car and serves classic French cocktails, Champagne, fine wines, and whiskeys.
The visitor experience is enriched with mindfulness and wellness. The well-known, Thai-based firm Siam Botanicals, which makes all-natural, organic skincare products in small batches, provides trademark treatments at the resort’s spa.
A resident Healer will present a number of seminars that will help participants on their health journeys. The resort has a Cross-Fit-inspired exercise center and an on-site fitness coach for more active visitors. The InterContinental Khao Yai Resort provides trail maps for visitors to use when exploring the variety of nearby biking and hiking routes, and a number of bicycles are available for hire.
