The House On Sathorn Bangkok - Why We Love It

The stunning property known as The House On Sathorn has been a distinctive figure in the food and drink scene in Bangkok. The colonial structure was once a private residence dating back to 1889 and mid-century to 1999 served as the site of the Russian Embassy. Adjacent to the W Bangkok hotel, 2015 saw it launched as it is today holding within their signature restaurant Paii, a stunning bar, courtyard and a number of function rooms. The function rooms range from holding 190 - 140 people and all have their own unique style from the 'Emerald Room' to 'The Loft'. It's a truly sophisticated experience for whatever your visit pertains to.

The bar has become a favourite spot in the bar community and after-hours cocktail scene for it's opulent and lavish setting. This grand hotel bar has a great drink selection ranging from Champagne, fine whiskeys and cocktails which are seasonally crafted, inspired by Asian produce. We liked "The 1895 : KRUNG THEP" with Phraya gold Thai rum, coconut liqueur, vanilla bitters, coconut water, lime, homemade vanilla-pandan syrup, and egg white.

They host a variety of networking events such as "sip and mingle" so perfect for business and pleasure alike. Afternoon Tea can be served in the courtyard on a sunny day or inside served 02:30 pm - 05:30 pm can be served with Champagne and you can expect delicious treats like Jasmine pistachio macaron, Praline financier, Smoked duck breast and foie gras and Salmon tartare, wasabi mayo, Ikura.

22 April 2019 saw a new culinary step in the 130-year-old landmark. Executive Chef Joe Weeraket showcases the best of local and imported seafood using Thai cooking and flavours to elevate each. Chef Joe has spent much time leading many of Bangkok's hotel kitchens and now he has brought that experience to The House On Sathorn. Fresh Namprik is made upon arrival for every guest and portions are extremely generous. opt for the Giant River prawns char-grilled and served with “choo chee” curry sauce to cut through the richness of the prawn heads. The Hokkaido scallops Stir-fried in yellow curry powder and Spanish Octopus Charcoaled with larb salad and mint all feature on the menu.

A highlight for us is the Giant Crab Fried Rice, a sharing dish with around half a kilo of freshly steamed Surat Thani mud crab meat. We also loved the crying tiger steak so much that we had to get it to takeaway. And to finish off the meal was the creamy pannacotta which is one of the best we've had in the city. Paii offers delightful dishes in a warm and inviting atmosphere and with the size of each dish, we find it perfect for a family or business meal as well as for a hungry date.

What to order at The House On Sathorn

From the many choices available, the one to try is Sa-Tor Pad Goong for an authentic experience of prawns.
