Invented the 1950s by a woman who wanted her daughter to see the endless possibilities of who she could be, Barbie is now the ultimate icon who excels in more than 200 careers while maintaining her bubbly and carefree spirit.

To celebrate the launch of the highly anticipated Greta Gerwig film, Barbie, which stars Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling as Barbie and Ken (one of many), we have curated a list of places where you can live out your Barbie fantasy right here in Bangkok.

As Aqua once said: Come on, Barbie, let’s go party

Pink Bar Le Bua Barbie Night Out Gastronomer Lifestyle

Pink Bar

It would be a crime to celebrate a Barbie night out without the colour pink. Pink Bar, located on the 61st floor of the lebua at State Tower, perfectly encapsulates the iconic Barbie colour as well as the origin of the doll. The beautiful champagne bar draws its elegance from the 1950s and is decorated in romantic millennial pink. Mouth-watering canapés and exceptional bubbles from winemakers such as Le Brun de Neuville, Rare Champagne, Champagne J. de Telemont, and Champagne Comtes de Dampierre await at this rooftop bar. Pink and bubbly? Nothing is more Barbie-core than that!

Pink Bar opens daily from 5pm to 1am. Make a reservation via Open Table here.
Escape Bangkok EmQuatier Barbie Night Out Gastronomer Lifestyle

Escape Bangkok

There were many iterations of the beloved doll, from 1965’s Astronaut Barbie, born out of the space exploration hype, to Malibu Barbie, which debuted in 1971 as the first-ever tan skinned surfer edition of the doll. Now, Malibu is also where Barbie’s real-life Dreamhouse is located. So, what better way to celebrate Barbie than to go to Malibu?

Once you’ve stepped into Escape Bangkok, you will surely forget that you are in  bustling Bangkok with the beach bar vibe of the rooftop bar located on the fifth floor of EmQuartier. Enjoy refreshing cocktails and dinner under the cabanas and transport yourself to the Malibu beachside.

Escape Bangkok opens daily from 5pm until late. To make your reservation, contact the bar’s official page here

Paradise Lost

Barbie resides mainly in the United States, but, just like us, she loves to go on vacation every once in a while. In 1985, Mattel introduced the Tropical Barbie, who boasted the longest hair up until then. The 1985 release also introduced Tropical Miko, Barbie’s Pacific Islander friend, the brand’s attempt at racial diversity.

So, join Barbie on her tropical vacation at the Paradise Lost bar, located on the rooftop of the Siam@Siam Design Hotel Bangkok. This neotropical bar is a pink and yellow wonderland offering a spectacular 360-view of Bangkok’s skyline, an exciting twist of international dishes, and sustainable, tropical, boozy drinks. Though life in plastic can be fantastic, Paradise Lost believes in a zero-waste approach. The only plastic allowed will be your Barbie doll.

Paradise Lost opens daily from 5pm to 1am. To book your table, visit their official website.

House of Heals Barbie Night Out Gastronomer Lifestyle

House of Heals

Barbie is all about fun, self-expression, living life with no limits, and being anything you want to be. In 2015, Barbie released a video called Imagine the Possibilities to build on its We Girls Can Be Anything campaign, initially launched in 1985. The video has now accumulated a staggering 27 million views on Youtube, and who else captures the spirit of limitless possibility other than drag queens? With their artistry, drag performers can transform themselves to be anything you could think of.

House of Heals, the home bar for many Thai drag queens, is owned by Pangina Heals, a co-host of Drag Race Thailand and one of the breakout stars of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK VS. The World. The lively and upbeat drag bar is located on the 33rd floor of Renaissance Bangkok Ratchaprasong Hotel and has an array of activities to keep you in your fierce, fun, and fabulous era.

House of Heals opens daily from 8pm until midnight. To reserve your table, call 099-336-6262 or visit their Instagram

Tease at The Standard Bangkok Barbie Night Out Gastronomer Lifestyle

Tease

Now, let’s go back to the OG Barbie that started it all. The first Barbie doll debuted at the American International Toy Fair in New York City on March 9, 1959, which later became the character’s birthday. Rather than wear pink as we have come to associate with the doll, the first Barbie was dressed in a black-and-white striped swimsuit and is now one of the rarest dolls on the market.

There is no other place in Bangkok that evokes the classic doll look more than Tease at The Standard, Bangkok. Don’t be fooled by the ‘tea room’ label of this monochromatic setting, because when the sun goes down, Tease After Dark comes out to play. Expect the unexpected with a boozy twist and cocktails. If the Barbie night out gives you a hangover, a cup of aromatic tea in the morning after will surely cure that.

Tease opens daily from 1pm until late, with Tease After Dark beginning from 6pm onwards. Click here to book your table.
