On the 26th of March 2024, Sézanne in Tokyo proudly clinched the title of The Best Restaurant in Asia, graciously sponsored by S.Pellegrino & Acqua Panna. The thrilling announcement unfolded amidst the electric ambiance of the live awards ceremony for Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants 2024. This esteemed event, a pinnacle of culinary celebration, unfolded in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (MAFRA) and the Seoul Metropolitan Government, serving as gracious hosts.

Crafted from the discerning choices of Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants Academy, a judiciously curated assembly of 318 experts characterized by gender parity, the list epitomizes a tapestry of gastronomic excellence. Comprising food connoisseurs, esteemed critics, visionary chefs, and regional culinary mavens, this august body meticulously selected this year’s lineup, which showcases establishments from 19 vibrant cities across the region, inclusive of eight captivating newcomers.

Bangkok emerges as a formidable culinary force, boasting a total of eight entries on the coveted list. Leading the charge is th14-seater chef’s table experience, Gaggan Anand’s brainchild, positioned at a commendable No.3. 

Nusara, under the culinary helm of chef Ton, secures the No.6 spot and garners the prestigious Gin Mare Art of Hospitality Award for the year. Notably, Sühring scales an impressive 15 positions to secure No.7, while Sorn holds its ground at No.11. 

The reigning champion of Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants 2023, Le Du, gracefully claims No.12. Potong orchestrates a remarkable ascent, surging 18 spots to secure No.17, with chef-owner Pichaya ‘Pam’ Soontornyanakij as Asia’s Best Female Chef for 2024.

Reasserting its presence, the Thai omakase-style gem, Samrub Samrub Thai, makes a resolute return to the rankings at No.29. Meanwhile, Baan Tepa, the enchanting experiential enclave nestled within chef-owner Chudaree ‘Tam’ Debhakam’s familial abode, earns a respectable No.42 placement, enriching the tapestry of culinary brilliance showcased on this year’s list.
