Launched in January 2024, the SOCraft Awards is Asia’s first awards program dedicated to artisanal spirits, uniquely integrating environmental responsibility as a key judging criterion.
Over three months, spirits from 15 countries—including Australia, Canada, France, Germany, and the U.S.—were evaluated in Singapore from May 2 to 4, 2024.
“A massive congratulations to all the awarded craft spirits in this inaugural edition of SOCraft Awards. Besides providing a gateway for global craft spirit makers to connect with buyers and consumers in Asia, the Awards also aim to inspire drink makers here. SOCraft Awards is where they can discover some of the most amazing small-batch spirits in the world. In this first edition, at least 70% of the entries are new to our market,” said Ivy Woo, Managing Director of FoodNews Creative Marketing Agency, Founder of SOCraft Awards, and Co-Founder of Singapore Cocktail Festival.
Defining Craft Spirits:
SOCraft Awards defines craft spirits as those handcrafted by independent distilleries that:
Market themselves as craft.
Are majority independently owned.
Produce no more than 750,000 gallons annually (as per the American Craft Spirits Association).
Judging Process:
The Judging Committee, comprised of 12 industry leaders, selected 36 judges who independently evaluated each spirit based on aroma, mouthfeel, taste, finish, and overall impression. Spirits demonstrating exceptional green efforts received an additional GREEN RING, assessed separately by sustainability experts.
