Anchored by a picture-perfect swimming pool, Meliá Chiang Mai has introduced Tien Pool Bar with a design that pays tribute to some of Chiang Mai’s most famous landmarks including Tha Phae Gate, the province’s famed red bricked barrier.

Situated on the second floor of the hotel on the lively Charoen Prathet Road by the River Ping and city’s Night Bazaar, Tien Pool Bar is open daily from 10am until 7pm. The venue contains mixed seating options, including bar stools, outdoor sofas, and sunbeds, which combined can host about 28 guests maximum, while the pool highlights striking tiling meant to be an interpretation of textile patterns the locals call “teen jok”. Similar patterns are also evident on the exterior façade of the hotel visible from the bar.

For savoury seekers, the bar’s food menu includes casual orders like the Triple Decker Sandwich, a combo of fried breaded chicken, bacon, lettuce, fried egg, and aioli on dark rye bread. Two burgers are also offered: the Plant-Based Burger, highlighting a meatless patty with hummus, tomatoes, gherkins, and a side of potato wedges, and the Cheese Burger, a grilled beef patty topped with melted cheese and served with caramelised onions, gherkins, and French fries.

For healthier options, there’s the Seasonal Fruit Platter, showcasing wild honey, Greek yogurt, and lime, sourced from the hotel’s sustainable ‘360° Cuisine’ programme, in which Meliá works closely with local farmers to help them improve their sustainability and encourage ethical production to make communities and the overall food system more resilient.

For beverage options, the pool bar serves fresh juices, smoothies and shakes, soft drinks, beers, mocktails, cocktails, and wines, including organic and vegan wines. Royal Flora Ratchaphruek’s colourful flowers inspire the bar’s selection of imaginative cocktails such as Meliá Blossom, which contains lychee juice, lime juice, cherry blossom syrup, and grenadine, decorated with coral vine flowers.

However, the must-drink is none other than the Coco Cooler, featuring rum, banana liquor, caramel syrup, coconut milk, pineapple juice, and lime juice. The special drink is served in a coconut shell and is offered until June 30 this year, so hurry!
