As a fervent lover of Thai cuisine, my recent visit to this hidden gem left an indelible mark on my taste buds and memory. The ambiance at Khao-So-i effortlessly blends modern aesthetics with traditional Thai elements. Warm wooden accents, ornate lanterns, and intricate murals create an inviting atmosphere that sets the stage for a delightful dining experience.
The courteous staff greet their customers with genuine smiles and guide us through the menu once we’re seated. The main attraction here is, of course, the khao soi, for which customers can choose different gourmet meat toppings to their liking.
Selecting beef for myself, the tender braised meat was served in a creamy, fragrant curry broth that is the restaurant’s signature. The interplay between the crispy egg noodles and the soft, chewy ones add a playful element to each spoonful. The spices are well-balanced, offering a gentle heat that danced on the palate without overwhelming it.
Filling out my feast, fried tofu and steamed dumplings made for great shared appetisers to enjoy in addition to each of our personal bowls of curry and noodles. Thinking about the whole customer experience, the restaurant has a signature soft serve, which provides the perfect sweet and cold ending to a warm, hearty meal.
Khao-So-i is a culinary haven for those seeking an authentic taste of Northern Thailand. With its captivating ambiance, impeccable service, and a menu that reads like a love letter to Thai flavours, this restaurant has secured its place as a must-visit destination for both locals and tourists alike.
The new Bangkok branch of Khao-So-i is located on Convent Road and open daily from 10am to 8pm.
