The most recent example of this is the launch of “Another New Chapter Begins: A Culinary Journey at Jim Thompson, A Thai Restaurant”. The famous Jim Thompson Heritage Quarter near National Stadium in Bangkok just unveiled a newly renovated F&B wing that now houses Jim Thompson, A Thai Restaurant and The O.S.S. Bar, the latter inspired by American WWII-era covert operations famously part of the Jim Thompson story.
Making sure that the new dining outlets would blend seamlessly into the house and its heritage, renowned design firm HBA integrated over 70 unique pieces of Jim Thompson Home Furnishings fabrics into the interior design and decor. Modern-retro furnishings and subtle imagery are further used to communicate Thompson’s spirit and hospitality throughout the wing.
As for the food and beverage offerings, the namesake restaurant highlights Jim Thompson’s beloved Thai cuisine by showcasing both traditional and progressive recipes in the form of à la carte and degustation menus. Executive chef Pepe Dasí helms the kitchen, bringing both his expertise of running three- and two-Michelin-star restaurants around the world as well as his passion for Thai fare to Jim Thompson House diners. Meanwhile, The O.S.S. Bar provides a cosy space for sipping on classics or thematic signatures, while spying on the nearby khlong in comfort and secret.
These new offerings without a doubt add value to the Jim Thompson experience, bringing us one step closer to the man, the myth, and the legend, and deserve a visit by new and former visitors alike.
